Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it at another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • DOIs for the digital papers in references have been provided. URLs of other papers are welcome.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

As a general mathematics journal, Acta et Commentationes Universitatis Tartuensis de Mathematica publishes original research papers in pure and applied mathematics. All areas are eligible. However, we give a preference to areas that have a strong presence in Estonian mathematics. To retain the diversity, we wish to avoid simultaneous concentration of papers from the same area. Also, we do not handle more than one submission per author at the same time.

Our submission must be of outstanding quality. The acceptance rate for 2020-2023 was approximately 20%. To be considered for publication in our journal, a manuscript has to satisfy the following criteria.

  • It is presented in well written English.
  • The research is well motivated.
  • It contains significant new results.
  • The proofs in the manuscript are correct.

As a rule, the length of a manuscript should not exceed 25 pages. Manuscripts, concerning content, must be in their final form, submitted as pdf-files.  Standard submission takes place through the electronic submission system. It is possible, but not necessary, to register with your unique identifier ORCID iD. If difficulties are encountered, then the manuscripts can be sent to Managing Editor by e-mail.

Structure of a manuscript:

  • Title of the paper.
  • Name(s) of the author(s), traditionally written in alphabetical order of surnames (it is possible to indicate the corresponding author).
  • Abstract (not exceeding 13 lines) which can be read independently of the paper (references and long formulae in the abstract should be avoided).
  • Keywords and the 2020 Mathematics Subject Classification .
  • Text of the paper.
  • References (listed in alphabetical order of surnames; abbreviations of journal names should follow Mathematical Reviews).
  • Complete address of each author and the e-mail address.

The publisher requires submission of manuscripts written in LATEX (AMS document class). After a paper has been accepted, the author(s) must prepare the final TEX-file using template. The file ACUTM.tex is a template file. It uses a class-file acta.CLS. Both files should be saved in the same folder, whereas the class file should be saved with name acta. After building ACUTM.tex to a pdf-file you will get ACUTM.pdf. While preparing your own template-based file, you have to ensure that the references follow the style of ACUTM.pdf, where abbreviations of journal names are according to Mathematical Reviews. The digital papers should have links to their DOIs (see Template). Your final TEX-file and the respective PDF-file should be uploaded in the submission system, or sent by e-mail to the Managing Editor.

There are no page charges.
