Abstract
On the Borders: RE in Northern Europe
Around the world, many schools are situated close to a territorial border. In such a situation it is possible, and in some areas probable, that students and teachers interact with people from the other side of the territorial border on a daily or weekly basis. These interactions influence peoples’ lives, but how do they affect education? Does a close relation to a territorial neighbour mean that the culture and religion of the territorial Other is taken into consideration in teaching? Or is education, despite the recommendations on the supranational level, a purely national product? These issues are addressed in this paper, which empirical material comes from on a cross disciplinary project focusing on RE in four border areas around the Baltic Sea.
Piiridel: religiooniõpetus Põhja-Euroopas
Kõikjal maailmas paikneb hulk koole riigipiiri läheduses. Seesuguste koolide puhul on võimalik ja mõnes piirkonnas ka tõenäoline, et nii õpilased kui ka õpetajad puutuvad kas iga nädal või ka iga päev kokku inimestega piiri tagant. Need kokkupuuted mõjutavad inimeste elu. Ent kuidas mõjutavad need haridust? Kas lähikontakt naabriga tähendab ka territoriaalse Teise kultuuri ning religiooni arvessevõtmist õpetamisprotsessis? Või jääb haridus hoolimata rahvusvahelistest soovitustest siiski puhtrahvuslikuks ilminguks? Artiklis käsitletakse neid küsimusi empiirilise materjali taustal, mis on kogutud multidistsiplinaarse uurimisprojekti käigus, milles keskenduti nelja Läänemere-äärse piiriala religiooniõpetusele.
