Abstract

Kuigi õpetamise arendamine ja uurimine on kiiduväärt ja olulised tegevused, mis aitavad parandada õpetamise kvaliteeti ning tagada õpetamisele parema positsiooni akadeemiliste elukutsete hierarhias, olen siiski seisukohal, et ka edaspidi tuleks pöörata suuremat tähelepanu akadeemilise õpetamise kui õpetamise arendamise ja uurimise eelkäija tugevdamisele. Usun, et kui ülikoolid keskenduksid kõigepealt akadeemilise õpetamise edendamisele ning alles pärast seda innustaksid akadeemilisi töötajaid aja- ja ressursimahukate õpetamise arendamise ja uurimise projektidega tegelema, oleks saadav kasu oluliselt suurem, väljendudes nii paremas õpetamises kui ka tõhusamas õppimises. Selles artiklis selgitatakse akadeemilise õpetamise ning õpetamise arendamise ja uurimise vahelisi sarnasusi ja erinevusi eesmärgiga aidata ülikoolidel neid protsesse paremini mõista. Esitan ülevaate akadeemilisest õpetamisest mudeli kaudu, mis hõlmab ülikoolis õpetamise ja õppimisega seotud olulisi muutujaid, ning tutvustan lühidalt õpetamise arendamise ja uurimise ajalugu ning põhielemente. Artikli lõpus esitan kokkuvõtte akadeemilisest õpetamisest ning õpetamise arendamisest ja uurimisest, näidates, et neil kahel haridusprotsessil on teineteist täiendavad, kuid kohati lahknevad eesmärgid.
