Kindergarten teachers’ opinions on dealing with the topic of climate change

Abstract

Lapsepõlves omandatud käitumisel on mõju keskkonnale. Õpetajatel on laste suunamisel tähtis osa ja selle edukus sõltub õpetajate teadmistest, arusaamadest ning hoiakutest. Uurimuse eesmärk oli välja selgitada õpetajate hinnangud oma teadmistele ning arvamused kliimamuutustest ja teema käsitlemisvõimalustest lasteaias. Eesmärgi saavutamiseks vastasid juhuvalimisse sattunud õpetajad (N = 50) autorite koostatud küsimustikule. Vastajad hindasid kõrgemalt oma teadmisi kliimamuutuste põhjuste, tagajärgede ja leevendamise, aga madalamalt muutustega toimetuleku võimaluste kohta. Laste arendamisel pidasid nad oluliseks isiklikku eeskuju, kliimateemalisi üritusi ja loodusvaatlusi. Küsitletud arvasid, et kliimateadlikkuse kujundamisega võiks alustada koolieelses eas, mil on kõige tõhusam omandada uusi teadmisi ja kujundada erinevaid käitumismustreid. Samas ei olnud kolmandik vastanutest kliimamuutuste teemat lastega käsitlenud. Soovitame riiklikus õppekavas lisaks keskkonnahoidliku mõtteviisi kujundamisele sõnastada selgemalt eesmärgid, mis aitavad muutuvas kliimas toime tulla, ning pakkuda õpetajate toetamiseks teemakohaseid koolitusi.
