The relationship between grade nine math national exam results, prior skills, and an interest in math

Töö eesmärk on leida, kuidas on seotud spontaanne keskendumine kvantitatiivsetele seostele (SFOR), suunatud multiplikatiivsete seoste kasutamine, matemaatikapädevus ja matemaatikahuvi kuuendas klassis; kas kuuenda klassi tulemused on seotud ka üheksanda klassi matemaatika lõpueksami tulemusega ning kas esineb soolisi erinevusi matemaatikaoskustes ja/või matemaatikahuvis. Uuringus osalejad (n = 1062, 51% neist poisid) sooritasid 2019. aasta sügisel lugemis- ja matemaatikapädevuse testi ning 2023. aastal põhikooli lõpueksami. Kõik kuuenda klassi näitajad olid omavahel positiivses seoses. Nii suunatud multiplikatiivsete seoste kasutamine, matemaatikapädevus kui ka matemaatikahuvi kuuendas klassis olid seotud matemaatika lõpueksami tulemusega, viimasega ei olnud seotud ainult SFOR. Lisaks olid tüdrukute matemaatikaoskused poiste omadest paremad. Matemaatikahuvis soolisi erinevusi ei esinenud. Seega on juba kuuendas klassis erinevaid oskusi ja motivatsiooninäitajaid, mis seletavad, kui hästi õpilane põhikooli lõpueksamil hakkama saab. Selle tõttu on oluline toetada õpilaste oskusi ja huvi juba esimeses ja teises kooliastmes, kuna varem esinenud raskused võivad muidu püsima jääda.
