The formula for success in mathematics: Higher socioeconomic background, lower anxiety, and higher curiosity at the student and school level

Töö eesmärk on uurida, kuidas sotsiaalmajanduslik taust, tajutud matemaatika õpetamise kvaliteet, matemaatikaärevus ja uudishimu seostuvad matemaatika tulemustega õpilase ja kooli tasandil. Analüüs põhineb 6232 õpilasel 166 koolist, kes kuulusid PISA 2022 uuringu Eesti valimisse. Tulemused näitavad, et õpilaste matemaatika tulemusi kujundavad mõlema tasandi tegurid, kusjuures tugevaim seos ilmneb sotsiaalmajandusliku tausta ja tulemuste vahel. Matemaatikaärevus seostub madalamate, uudishimu aga paremate tulemustega nii õpilase kui kooli tasandil, samas kui tajutud õpetamise kvaliteet osutub oluliseks vaid õpilase tasandil. Märkimisväärne on nii matemaatikaärevuse kui uudishimu ennustusvõime oluline varieerumine kooliti: matemaatikaärevuse negatiivne ning uudishimu positiivne ennustusvõime on mõnes koolis märksa tugevam kui teistes. Kahetasandiline mudel rõhutab, et õpitulemused ei peegelda üksnes individuaalseid tegureid, vaid sõltuvad ka koolikeskkonnast.
